“When typography is on point, words become images.”
― Shawn Lukas

Much has been going on with typography in our world lately. We released our 2015 Type Trends survey and also made some typography predictions for 2016 with some help from our friends Laura Worthing and Sara Hyndman.

One of our absolute favorite things to do is work with talented graphic designers from around the globe to inspire your type. Not only do we have a robust collection on our Fontspiration Pinterest board, but we also feed these inspirational pieces into the Fontspiration panel within Suitcase Fusion, as well as in our free Fontspiration app for iPhone.

Without further ado, we present our most recent set of custom-made Fontpirations. These pieces feature type by Rvq Type Foundry, Type Faith Fonts, Mika Melvas Type Studio, Letterhead Fonts, Lost Type Co-Op, DSType Foundry, and House Industries. Check ’em out.

During the month of May, we asked you to help us fill the interweb with typographic design inspired by the music world. With your contributions using #AudibleInspiration, we created an ode to our favorite musicians and designers and took a fresh look into just how much the two words intertwine.

Entries spanned the gamut from favorite album art to custom hand-drawn song lyrics. Shout-outs and hat-tips were given to musical bluegrass artists to 80’s electro-pop and everything in-between. And without further ado, we’d like to congratulate our winner, Tory Burke. Tory scored a sweet prize—a pair of Beats By Dre headphones.

Art and music are so intertwined that sometimes it’s hard to find the end of one and the beginning of the other. Music inspires creativity, and as it’s almost impossible to imagine peanut butter without jelly, so is it hard to hear Pink Floyd over the speakers without seeing visions of prisms and scrawled, splattered typography. We know that when we get into a groove, we find creative fuel and soul-soaring inspiration folded into the guitar riffs of our favorite tunes. Whatever arduous task, given a soundtrack, feels less like a chore and more like a boogie. We could go on and on and on, but the point is: we’re dedicating this month to our love of typographic design in the music world. And we’ve crafted a contest so that you can play along with us.

Audible Inspiration Contest

Do you have a favorite LP cover? Think The Ramones have the best band logo? Are you a next-level groupie? Prove it. Shout out to your favorite musicians and designers and enter to win a sweet prize all the while. We want to fill the internet with one big ode to musical design inspiration using our own #AudibleInspiration. Here’s how to enter to win a jazzy pair of Beats By Dre headphones:

  1. Find your favorite music-inspired typographic design and share it on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram, or create a piece yourself. Serious brownie points will be awarded to those who design their own entries—we love designed lyrics and redesigned band logos or album art! (Hint: check out our Fontspiration App).
  2. Tag us @extensis and #AudibleInspiration
