Today we released new font auto-activation plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop CS5 and CS4 for Suitcase Fusion™ 3. The plug-ins automatically activate the exact fonts required for each file using the patented Font Sense™ technology to create a unique fingerprint for each font.

We understand that Photoshop is a core part of many designer’s daily workflow, and these plug-ins bring powerful auto-activation to the industry-standard imaging application.

The new plug-ins are available for our Suitcase Fusion 3 font manager on both Macintosh® and Windows® operating systems. The full list of auto-activation plug-ins now includes:

• Adobe InDesign® CS5, CS4 and CS3
• Adobe Illustrator® CS5, CS4 and CS3
• Adobe Photoshop CS5 and CS4 (32 and 64-bit versions)
• QuarkXPress® 8 and 7

If you already have Suitcase Fusion 3, you can download the new plug-ins through the Check for Updates features of Suitcase Fusion 3. If you haven’t purchased yet, all new versions automatically include the new plug-ins.

Sounds great, but every time I’ve checked for updates, I get told, “Suitcase Fusion 3 14.0.2 is currently the newest version available.” No Photoshop plug-ins to be seen, though.

Please try again, the update utility is now enabled, and you should be able to directly download it using the Check for Updates feature.

    I’m running CS5 and I check for updates and I’m told it’s up-to-date. But it’s not auto-activating fonts in any of the CS5 apps. I’ve got 14.0.4

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Be sure that you have the plug-ins installed and active. On a Mac, choose Suitcase Fusion 3 > Manage Plug-ins, and on a PC choose Tools > Manage Plug-ins. Then check the plug-ins that you want to use.

Does this auto-activation plug-in also work with Universal Type Server/Client?

  6. on 23 Sep 2010 at 6:57 am Jim Kidwell

To answer your question, Mike, plugins are developed and integrated separately for the Universal Type Client. Currently we have plug-ins for Adobe InDesign and Illustrator CS5 for the Mac Type Client. We expect CS5 plug-ins for the Windows Client sometime this fall.

You need to be sure that the plug-ins are installed. Go to Suitcase Fusion 3 > Manage Plug-ins to enable/disable the plug-ins for the applications that you want to use.

I am trying the demo for InDesign CS5 and my fonts will not auto activate.

    Is there a solution?

You need to have the auto-activation plug-in installed, choose Manage Plug-ins from the Suitcase Fusion 3 menu. After they are installed, select the font activation preferences that you need from the Type menu.
