Teams of all sizes rely upon Universal Type Server for their font management needs.
While many teams tend to upgrade their software more slowly and deliberately, some of you are likely considering how you’ll respond to Adobe’s recent move to Adobe Creative Cloud.
When activating fonts manually, Universal Type Server is currently compatible with all Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
Font auto-activation plug-ins are currently in development for the Universal Type Client, and will be released with a new version of Universal Type Server on October 1, 2013. Plug-ins are being developed for:
- Photoshop CC
- InDesign CC
- Illustrator CC
- InCopy CC
The new version of Universal Type Server will include the CC plug-ins as well as a variety of other exciting new features.
All current Universal Type Server customers with an Annual Service Agreement will receive a free upgrade to this new version.
We are currently working to ensure compatibility of Extensis font managers with the new Adobe Creative Cloud applications. We are building compatible font auto-activation plug-ins and panels and fully testing them with the final Creative Cloud versions of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and InCopy.
There are currently no known issues with Extensis Portfolio cataloging file types created by Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Today Extensis announced the immediate availability of new font auto-activation plug-ins that include a TweetFont – a revolutionary new social-font (“soc-fon”) technology that tweets the name of every font automatically activated by Suitcase Fusion.
This exciting new feature allows creative professionals to share up to the minute information about the fonts being used in their designs. Each tweet includes the font’s FontSense™ ID, to assist followers in keeping track of the exact fonts that have been activated.
“After seeing the success of our FontFuse website, where users can create and share font pairings, we knew we had to take the social approach to font management even further” said Jim Kidwell, Product Marketing Manager at Extensis. “TweetFont takes soc-fon to the next level by providing creative professionals an easy way to flood their Twitter stream with even more mundane updates.”
